A NEW IMAGE
In the year 2000, Wasim ul Islam, a young alumnus fresh from New York City to Alexandria, Virginia, was looking to meet fellow Columbia alumni in the greater D.C. metro area. In that process he proposed to remake the internet presence of the Club. With the help, encouragement and support of Beth Ritchie Chung, who was the then President of the Club, he created a major portion of the web site by the middle of year 2001. He proposed a few URLs, among those was www.cucdc.org. Board members favored www.cucdc.org and it was registered as our club's domain name with active help and participation from Beth Chung. Earthlink™ was chosen as the Internet Service Provider. Wasim designed five competing designs of the Club web site and three different logos for the Club. The designs and logos were presented to the general alumni for their input in the general meeting in 2001. This web-site is a slightly refined version of the winning design. Meanwhile, Beth Chung contributed an article on the history and activities of the Club, which appears in the HISTORY OF THE CLUB page. "Under Construction" sign was removed and this site was launched on August 6, 2002. That date also marks the completion of the Phase I of the club web-site project. In Phase II and Phase III of the project we hope to make this site fully compatible with Netscape™ browsers and fully integrated with the database system. We appreciate your patience and request you to kindly keep in mind that all the work for this site is done by volunteers. Your help and input is greatly appreciated! Please e-mail your comments and suggestions about this web-site to Wasim ul Islam at gateway10027@yahoo.com
